Barbara Shaw, Director of The Coe Hill Dharma Centre
Barbara moved to Coe Hill in 2006 from Toronto where she trained and worked as a Recreational Therapist. Holding a Bachelor of Gerontology from Laurentian University as well as Certifications in Activation, Restorative Care and Counseling from George Brown College in Toronto, Barbara is a wellness professional whose goal is to allow people to get the most enjoyment out of life by participating in meaningful physical activity. Barbara has studied yoga for many years practicing in Port Elgin, Canmore, Halifax and Toronto. Barbara has also studdied at the Shambhala Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Barbara fell in love with Zumba and completed her training and was licensed in 2011. She has been finding her flavour ever since!
When she's not teaching yoga or Zumba Barbara enjoys public speaking and working as a holistic wellness coach for clients across the country or consulting on wellness projects. She also runs a communications consulting company that specializes in social media.
"Life is hectic and crazy", Shaw says. "Taking the time to breathe, relax, stretch and open our minds allows us to deal with the insanity of each day. These are the skills that I hope to share with others through The Coe Hill Dharma Centre."
